Zirconium oxides / hydroxides in their undoped and doped
forms, can modify the the nature of catalyst supports
in respect of crush strength, surface area stability,
porosity, surface acidity / basicity and crystallinity.
Zirconium based catalysts can be used in pollution control
in mobile and stationary sources. MEI/MEL Chemicals/ Nikkei-MEL
can supply an extensive range of zirconia and doped zirconia
powders and precursors (aqueous zirconium salts and organic
soluble complexes). All powders/salts/formed products can
be tailored for individual customer requirements. Please
contact in confidence to discuss your requirements
ENVIRONMENTAL CATALYST DATA
SHEETS
Zirconium based catalysts can be used in hydrogenation, oxidation,
amination, isomerisation and other catalytic reactions.
Strong acid catalysts based on sulfated and tungstated
zirconia are excellent Friedel Krafts and isomerisation
catalysts.
MEI/MEL Chemicals/ Nikkei-MEL can supply an extensive range
of zirconia and doped zirconia powders and precursors (aqueous
zirconium salts and organic soluble complexes). Formed products
are also available. All powders/salts/formed products can

REFINING & CHEMICAL CATALYST DATA
SHEETS
MEL Chemicals supply a range of high purity, fully or
partially stabilised yttria zirconia powders, for use as
electrolytes and anodes in SOFC systems. The range contains
sinter-active, sub-micron powders which, when fired, produce
dense, non-porous layers. A range of ceria-stabilised zirconia
powders for fuel processing catalysts is also available.
These have controlled particle size, redox properties and
surface chemistry, which can be fine-tuned for use in reforming.
WATER-GAS-SHIFT CATALYSTS
FUEL CELL TECHNOLOGY
MEL Chemicals / MEI / Nikkei-MEL are the world leaders in
zirconium technology. Indeed, MEL Chemicals were the pioneers
of zirconium chemistry in the 1950's. We have unparalleled
knowledge regarding zirconium, and through our policy of research
and development, have regularly published groundbreaking articles
in the scientific press. The documents attached to this section
will furnish the reader with a working knowledge of the subject
and also provide avenues for further investigation.
