MEL Chemicals wins the “Most Improved” Category in the 2009 Luxfer Group Safety Awards

The MEL Chemicals UK facility has won the “Most Improved” category in the 2009 Luxfer Group Safety Awards. Though several sites within Luxfer showed exceptional improvements, it was MEL Chemicals improvements in support systems that won them the award.

The Executive Management Board at Luxfer considered nominations among a short-list of manufacturing sites within the Luxfer group. All sites showed exceptional improvements but MEL Chemicals Swinton made particular efforts to improve support systems on site, ensuring long-term safety for all employees.

 

As of the end of 2009 employees at MEL Chemicals Swinton had achieved over 1 million hours working without a reportable lost time accident.

 

The Luxfer Group Chief Executive, Brian Purves (pictured above left with MEL employee Norman Gartley), presented the trophy to a select group of staff at the MEL site in Swinton, Manchester.
