Alumina containing materials

MEL Chemicals has several programs underway to manufacture and supply materials encompassing the following broad materials categories:

  • Pure and doped AlOOH
  • Pure and doped Al2O3
  • Pure and doped Al2O3 combined with ZrO2 and ZrO2 stabilized with a variety of metal oxides.
  • Pure and doped Al2O3 combined with CeO2-ZrO2 and CeO2-ZrO2 stabilized with a variety of metal oxides.

 

NLM MATERIALS

MEL Chemicals is working with NLM in Japan to supply advanced Pure and Doped AlOOH and Al2O3 Powders.

NLM has long-experienced manufacturing capabilities for a wide-range of alumina types.

  • C10, pesudo-boehmite, and C20, g-alumina, having high surface areas and controlled pore size distributions are basic products for the catalyst industries
  • C20L and C20L-B, La-doped, g-aluminas, are suitable for auto catalyst supports with good heat resistance at high temperatures.
  • C40, q-alumina, and C50 α-alumina, having sharp crystal size distributions are also used for polishing compounds and filters.
  • Other doped aluminas and mixed oxides can be prepared on specific customer requests

Collaborating with NLM and using their materials as a source for the aluminum-based component (Al), MEL Chemicals is adding our knowledge of manufacturing custom zirconium-based components (Zr), such as ZrO2, CeO2-ZrO2, and others, to produce Zr/Al Composite Powders. These materials have applicability in chemical catalysis, diesel exhaust abatement catalysts, TWC, and a variety of other areas.

 

MEL MATERIALS

MEL Chemicals has also developed our own technology for precipitating custom aluminum- and zirconium-based components on a very fine scale. These ALZ Powders typically have unique properties and are useful in wide range of catalytic applications including, but not limited to, TWC, diesel, and stationary.
