Melsorb - Hydrotalcites

Primarily designed for carbon dioxide sorption, however these can also be used as catalyst supports or other sorbents.

POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS

• Sorbents (particularly CO₂)
• Catalyst supports (due to high SA, and basic nature of material)
• Water purification
• Anion exchangers e.g. remove CrO₄^2-, AsO₄^3-, VO₄^3- or CN^-
• N₂O decomposition
• Nuclear waste treatment

 

CO₂ SORPTION

As with the lithium zirconate materials the product of choice will depend on specifc requirements, however our hydrotalcites are mainly based on Al/Mg (not Ni) with addition of Zr and optionally other promotors such as K or Na to improve the kinetics.

STRUCTURE

Hydrotalcites are of the structure:
